I’ve had the most fantastical week of my life and it’s only wednesday…

I saw my PT again on Monday (6.27) and it was all good news! He told me that I have my FULL range of motion back in my knee (6 weeks post op) and he doesnt even need to see me any more. FTW! It seemed too soon to part ways, so I made him book one more sesh for the end of July.
Then on Tuesday, I saw my surgeon for another follow-up. Incision looks good and its slowly but surely coming along.
They also took some xrays… I couldn’t get over how NORMAL my femur looks!! So awesome. Nearly brings a tear to my eye.
The next thing she said caught me REAL off-guard. Like titanic/iceberg kind of off-guard…haha. She told me that I am officially free to do whatever activity/exercise I want- ie she cleared me for running, biking, and other vigorous activities. Let me recap for you: it’s been 6 weeks since surgery. That’s all. Before surgery, they told me it would likely take 12 (yes, TWELVE) weeks to be up and running and partaking in intense exercise. So you can imagine my surprise when she cleared me after just 6 weeks. FTW/WTF/HOLY SHIT! My diligence has paid off. Big time. I almost started crying in the exam room I was so happy.

My life:
I take a day off, it hurts. I do my rehab, it hurts. I bust my ass and overdo it, it hurts. I do everything absolutely perfectly, it still hurts. This is more frustrating than trying to give directions to a cabby who only knows 5 words in english (I’m all about diversity, yadda yadda, but it is literally like banging your head against a wall). To top it off, I had to get a crutch out to hobble around tonight cause both of my knees kept giving out. Apparently, this is the “struggle” or “discouraging” part of rehab. At least my incision looks good:
Also, I long for the day I can do this:

PT Today 6.13 (day 18 of rehab)
Posted by therehabrambler | Filed under PT,rehab, sports medicine,
Got my ass KICKED. Apparently, I have been overdoing it just a wee bit and thats why my knee always hurts… so I have to cool it for a few days. I guess 2 hours of night fris in fort collins is not conducive to my recovery at this point, haha. I have a really cool PTA (PT Asst) who measured my knee flexion at 127 degrees! aka, SICK! Full ROM is about 150 degrees (give or take 10 each direction depending on the individual) so for me to be at 127 degrees a month after surgery is HUGE. So at least I had that good thing to balance out the “back off the activity” news. I’ll be doing a lot of stretching in the next few days… I actually bought a 6 foot yoga belt (just like a 6’ piece of nylon) today at Whole Foods. Apparently, they have my best interest in mind too.
Killin’ it…

…Rehab, that is. Moths too. My stubborn seroma is healing quite nicely and I probably have about 75% of my knee ROM back. I no longer walk like Ja Rule circa 2001 (aka with a serious limp) though I slip back into after 2 minutes of the foam roller pain cage I subject myself to.
It hasn’t even been a month… it hurts to be this good.

This, my friends, is what a happy viscera looks like. Take note.
Tonight, I’ll be a “knotty” girl…
Posted by therehabrambler | Filed under rehab, physical therapy, quadricep,
Soooo hopefully, they are just knots, but I have many a painful (and quite firm) lump in my quad as of today. Some are under/around my incision and the rest are within about 5-6” of my knee.
I saw my PT, did my rehab yesterday (Friday, June 3rd) and what not…and I can’t help but feel as if I have taken 3 steps back. I couldn’t get my knee past 90 degrees today because t’was too painful (here’s hoping the pain means my quad is just super tight from yester and not something bad). I hopped on the bike just a bit ago and I could barely do what I have been doing for 3-4 days now… boo radley. Stay tuned, ramblers.
